Happy Monday All! Super Bowl 58 is in the books with a $7 million cost for a 30-second ad (PS. more than 100 million people watch the Super Bowl every year). Some ads highlighted how AI benefits society through their products, others used AI to actually make their ads, and at least one poked fun at AI. Let’s dive in:

At the Super Bowl 58, the Kansas City Chiefs clinched the title, but AI ads stole the show. Microsoft’s 'Watch Me' ad showcased Copilot’s creative potential, while Google’s ‘Javier in Frame’ ad highlighted the Pixel 8's Guided Frame feature through the eyes of blind director Adam Morse. Cybersecurity got a Wild West twist with CrowdStrike's ad: 'The Future', featuring a showdown between AI-powered defense and robotic invaders. Etsy’s humorous ‘Gift Mode’ had Americans pondering the perfect reciprocation for the Statue of Liberty. Bodyarmor's ‘Field of Fake’ ad humorously critiqued AI's artificiality, contrasting with the real ingredients of its drinks. And the 'Despicable Me 4' ad poked fun at AI with Minions (for all the right reasons).

OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman seeks $7 trillion for a new AI chip project (that's more than the US federal budget), while Nvidia is reportedly investing $30B in a new custom chip unit and its CEO is encouraging countries to establish their own sovereign AI infrastructures. OpenAI turns its gaze to India, revealing it has the 2nd highest number of ChatGPT users. Google throws €25M into boosting Europe's AI prowess, tech companies push UK over AI safety tests, and Oxford is launching an AI hub to fuel AI innovation. Meanwhile, top US companies are using AI to spy on employees’ messages and “thought crimes” blurring the line between innovation and intrusion.

Over in tech, Sam Altman has deemed Apple's $3,500 Vision Pro the most impressive tech since the iPhone. But don’t worry, for $350, you can have glasses with 'AI superpowers' too. AI resurrects Van Gogh in “Hello Vincent” art display and mesmerizes Barcelona with Gaudi house projections (drawing ~100k people). Lovers who can only communicate through AI get engaged, Microsoft spills its beans learned on building AI Copilots, and Pakistan's Imran Khan utilizes AI for a victory speech from jail. OH, and AI can now help you find out if your cat is happy.
